We will speak to them about credit repair, government assistance that they may be eligible for and even some employment advise. We are even working on a program where we will refer them to places that can help them put together job resumes and find employment or training. People who are stuck in condos or HOAs that they cannot afford are looking for ways to sell their property and get out from under this crushing debt. We have a program where we will refer them to a real estate company so that they can put their home on the market and possibly work out a short sale with the bank.
We have learned that the best way to get a debtor to pay their condo or HOA maintenance fees is by helping them in a more personal way. Help them help themselves. Condo and HOA collections are not about abuse but about reaching out and giving people another chance to get on their feet.
